Identify Risk
Identify Risk means looking beyond the crisis to understand the conditions and circumstances that may increase vulnerability before a serious outcome occurs. Illinois C.A.R.E.S.™ examines social, environmental, behavioral, family, developmental, and resource-related factors that can influence an individual, family, or community’s well-being.
Identifying risk is not about labeling people or predicting their future. It is about recognizing patterns early, understanding where vulnerabilities may exist, and identifying opportunities for earlier intervention. The earlier we recognize risk, the greater the opportunity to strengthen protective factors and change the pathway before a crisis occurs.
